Thirty-five million Americans are living with chronic lung diseases such as asthma, lung cancer and COPD.  Join us in taking the first step in the fight against lung disease! The “Fight for Air” Stairclimb on February 20th at the Hilton Springfield is the American Lung Association in Illinois’ first annual stair climb.  Participants will race up all 30 stories of the Hilton Springfield in what is sometimes referred to as a vertical road race. However, it isn’t just a race...while many individuals run up the stairs as fast as they can; the “Fight for Air” Stairclimb welcomes individuals of all athletic capabilities. Participants can climb as individuals or in teams (4 or more people).  We encourage friends, family, colleagues and others to join you or form a team of their own to create some friendly competition. For more event information go to www.FightForAirClimb.org

With at least 450 participants anticipated for this first year event, volunteers are in high demand to ensure it runs smoothly. Volunteers are needed in jobs such as line control, registration, water stops, food and beverage distribution and many more! Registration on event day begins at 7am, therefore all volunteers will be asked to arrive at 6:30. The event will be run with stagger start times making the  event length determined by the number of participants, but we don’t for see the event lasting past noon (including clean-up). For more information or to volunteer please contact Kelsey Dyckman at Kelsey.Dyckman@lungil.org or 217-787-5864 x257 .
